His Royal Highness Prince Harry

Britain’s Prince Harry will pay a three-day visit to Barbados from Friday, January 29, until Sunday, January 31. While here, he will participate in the inaugural Sentebale Polo Cup, as well as a number of official engagements involving children and young people.

Sentebale was set up by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, Southern Africa in 2006, to help orphans and vulnerable children there.

On arrival in Barbados on Friday, January 29, Prince Harry will call on Governor-General, Sir Clifford Husbands.

During his stay, Prince Harry will meet with children at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital; and, along with Prince Seeiso, will be part of a children’s party at the Barbados Museum.

About the upcoming visit, Prime Minister David Thompson said: "Prince Harry’s visit will help reinforce the strong links the Royal Family has with Barbados as a member of the Commonwealth. ??Prince Harry has a desire to improve the welfare of children and young people, so it is only natural that his official engagements would focus on that. We look forward to welcoming him to Barbados."

On Sunday, January 31, Prince Harry, Barbadians Teddy and Stephen Williams and English polo player, Mark Tomlinson, will play for the Sentebale Team, at the Apes Hill Polo Club, St. James. They will compete against the South African Team.

This three-day trip will be The Prince’s first formal engagement in Barbados. His other visits here have been in a private capacity.
