Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne. (FP)

Persons seeking a refund or to roll-over the excess registration fees paid in 2017 are advised that they would have to produce an original receipt of payment, along with their Barbados identification card, or driver’s licence.

Refunds will be dealt with in the Accounts Department of the Registration Department, while a Queries Desk will be set-up to handle all requests to roll-over excess registration fees to 2018.

In a statement, Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne, explained that the necessary information would be taken from registrants and the produced documents entered into the appropriate ledger.

She said all registrants will be required to sign the ledger agreeing to the accuracy of the information and to receiving the refund or rolling over the overpaid fees to 2018.

She added that a notation will be placed on the original receipt indicating the status of the overpaid registered fees, which will be signed and stamped by an employee of the Registration Department.

The official registration certificate for 2018 may be collected from the Registration Department at a later date, while cheques for any refunds will also be issued at a later date.

Mrs. Cooke-Alleyne further advised that institutions which paid professional registration fees in 2017 for individuals who are no longer in their employ should indicate whether they are seeking to have that fee paid for the new employee(s) or a refund.

In circumstances where the registrant is deceased, the personal representative of the estate is required to produce an original death certificate and the overpaid registration fee will be refunded to the estate of the deceased. The Registrar also indicated that where a registrant retired during 2017, a refund would be granted.

Meanwhile, all persons whose cheques for the registration fee in 2017 were dishonoured will be required to pay the registration fees for both 2017 and 2018.
