The Producer Price Index for Manufacturing decreased by 2.5 per cent at the end of September 2015, when compared to the previous month.

According to data produced by the Barbados Statistical Service, declines were recorded in the index for Beverages (13.2 per cent); Other Manufacturing (5.9 per cent); Petroleum and Chemical Products (5.7 per cent); and the index for Fabricated Metal Products, except machinery and equipment.

The following price indices remained unchanged over August 2015: Food Products; Wearing Apparel; Printing and Reproduction of Recorded Media; Rubber and Plastic Products; Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products and Furniture.

Between September 2014 and September 2015, the Producer Price Index declined by 2.4 per cent, from 107.2 to 104.6 points.??The Food Production Price Index decreased by 1.7 per cent at the end of September 2015 when compared to September 2014. A decrease in the sub-group indices for sugar (24.0 per cent) and prepared animal feeds (13.3 per cent) contributed to this decline.

The year-on-year index for September 2015 showed a decrease of 6.2 per cent in beverages due to notable declines in the index for distilling, rectifying and blending of spirits which fell by 22.3 per cent.

The comparison of the prices for September 2015 and September 2014, in the Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products Sector showed a decline of 1.1 per cent. This decrease resulted from a fall-off of 2.0 per cent in the articles of concrete, cement and plaster sub-group.

The year-on-year price index for Fabricated Metal Products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 1.9 per cent.
