Some 30 senior and mid-level public sector managers will, next week, learn how to Improve Productivity through Workplace Trust, when The Productivity Council, in collaboration with the Office of Public Sector Reform, hosts a half-day seminar on the topic, next Thursday, May 19.

The session will be held at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the presenter will be Principal Consultant for Human Capital Formation, Dr. Andre Henry of the Trinidad and Tobago-based consultancy practice, Ideas to Business Limited.

The motivation for the training has stemmed from an awareness of the effect of lack of trust in organisations, resulting in poor morale, reduced loyalty and commitment on the part of employees and mistrust on the part of management that could lead to executives wasting time ???checking up’ on employees.

The public sector leaders have been drawn from a number of government departments, including the Barbados Drug Service, the Licensing Authority, the Treasury Department, the Land Registry and the Immigration Department.?? Among the

learning objectives and expected outcomes of the session are the diagnosis of a culture of trust in the workplace; the development of appropriate trust interventions; and the role of leadership in building a high-trust workplace.

Chairman of the Council, Anthony Johnson, will give remarks at the start of the workshop.
