Principal of the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, will be the featured speaker during the official opening of the National Council for Science and Technology’s (NCST) animation workshop series.

The event takes place on Monday, June 14, at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (EBCCI), University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, starting at 11:00 a.m.????

Under the theme The Living Series, the seminars will bring into sharp focus, the myriad uses of computer animation technology in education and other spheres of activity.

The Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP), the Barbados Community College (BCC), the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) and Invest Barbados, are partnering with the NCST on the project.??????????????

To this end, representatives from the Canadian animation company, Toon Boom, will conduct Animation in Education training sessions for students of the SJPP, BCC and the Cave Hill Campus, on Thursday, June 10 and Friday June 11, respectively, at BIMAP from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m, each day.??

Meanwhile, the certification in animation boot camp will be held at the EBCCI on Saturday, June 19 from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.?? The instruction will continue on Monday, June 21 from 9:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m and will conclude on Friday, June 25.

The Train the Trainer workshop is slated to be held from Monday June 21 to Friday June 25; while the Strategic Planning Session with representatives of Toon Boom, NCST, Invest Barbados and other partners, will take place on Thursday, June 24 from 9:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.??
