Project S.O.F.T. (Safeguarding Our Future Today) 2019 started today, and will run until Monday, September 2.

The 17th annual one-week residential camp, hosted by the National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA), caters to 40 children who sat this year’s Common Entrance Examination.  It will be held at Naniki Barbados, Suriname, St. Joseph.

Under the theme: Transitioning the Family, the camp is designed to expose students to the various changes they will undergo as they transition into teenagers.

Students will participate in a number of engaging sessions conducted by the NCSA including: Staying Drug Free; Self Esteem; Positive Decision Making; Drug Refusal Skills; Bullying in School and Boy Talk and Girl Talk.

Daily, the camp will open with exercises, personal hygiene, breakfast and devotions. They will also engage in dance, drama and sports, and are expected to stage a camp fire, movie night and a Buss Yuh Brain session.

For further information, interested persons may contact Makeada Bourne or Agnetha Roach-Chase at the NCSA at 535-6272, or email ncsa.info@barbados.gov.bb.
