The growth of this island’s tourism industry has led to the development of various niches and with that, the need for standards to govern them. As a result, the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) has developed myriad standards, with one of the latest dedicated to offering guidelines for adventure tourism.

The BNSI has encouraged stakeholders in the sector and members of the public to become actively involved in the standards development process and offer comment on ISO/DIS 21101, Adventure Tourism – Safety Management Systems – requirements;

and ISO/DIS 21103, Adventure Tourism – Information to Participants – Minimum Requirements.?? Both documents were developed by BNSI and are available for entities desirous of learning more about guidelines for this niche sector.

Copies of both drafts may be obtained by contacting Renate Sealy at rsealy@bnsi.com.bb or 426-3870.?? Comments should be submitted to the BNSI by Monday, January 21, 2013.??
