Twenty persons from Barbados and six Caribbean countries are currently undergoing in-depth training in public procurement.

The five-day Level II Capacity Building Programme for Current and Future Practitioners in Public Procurement is being hosted by the European Union, in association with the London School of Economics.

It is being held at the CARICOM Single Market (CSME) Unit, Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael.

This training is designed to provide officials currently engaged in public procurement with updates on developments; knowledge of the broader context within which national procurement policies operate; as well as the tools needed to develop professional procurement.

In addition, the goal is to work with existing experts in public procurement within the region to refine and develop a training programme that is of direct relevance to CARIFORUM states. These experts will then progressively assume responsibility for the programme, providing the expertise for further capacity building for the future.

Participants will receive their certificates during a ceremony this Friday, April 22, at the CSME Unit, Sky Mall.
