The Pesticides Control Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is seeking the public’s assistance with efforts to ensure the safe and proper disposal of pesticides.
It is requesting information on expired stocks, old and empty pesticide containers, and equipment contaminated with pesticides. Persons are asked to contact Gennia Oxley of the Pesticides Control Unit, at 535-5122 or by emailing pesticides@agriculture.gov.bb by June 11.
Meanwhile, the Unit is cautioning against disposing of these toxic chemicals into the general garbage collection. It further advises persons in possession of pesticides to store them in a locked container that cannot be accessed by children.
