Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Louis Woodroffe, has announced that the Barbados public service will resume operation from 10:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, August 27, as a tropical storm warning for the island was discontinued.

This followed discussions and updates from the National Emergency Operation Centre following the passage of Tropical Storm Dorian over the island late last night and into the early hours of this morning.

In preparation for this resumption, the Transport Board is currently mobilizing its staff and regular bus service is expected to resume from 8:00 a.m.

First responders and utility crews are still on the ground assessing the damage and ensuring that critical arteries are cleared of debri, fallen trees and live power lines. Therefore, residents are urged to exercise caution.

During the night, there were several reports of power outages across the island, and other minor incidents.             .

In addition, 38 shelters were opened, of which 17 were occupied by 102 persons.
