The Parliamentary Joint Select Committee that is considering the Prevention of Corruption Bill, 2010 is seeking the views and comments of the general public.

The Bill is now available for public scrutiny at the Parliament Buildings, the Government Printing Department, Post Offices across the island and all Public Libraries It is also accessible online at http://www.barbadosparliament.com/, where individuals may also make their comments on the Barbados Parliament blog.

In addition, copies of the Bill are available at the following locations on weekdays: the Rices Resource Centre, Rices, St. Philip; Ellerton Community Centre, Ellerton, St. George; the Welfare Gall Hill Office, St. John; Deacons Resource Centre, Deacons, St. Michael; Parkinson Community Centre, The Pine, St. Michael; Weston Resource Centre, Weston, St. James; Grazettes Resource Centre, Grazettes, St. Michael; Speightstown Resource Centre; the Welfare Office, Belleplaine, St. Andrew; and the St. Elizabeth Resource Centre, St. Joseph.

In addition, individuals, professional organisations, community based groups, official and unofficial bodies with special interest, and anyone who may assist with the Committee’s work are invited to submit memoranda or other documents setting out their views and comments on the issues.

Persons who have tendered written submissions should indicate whether they wish to appear in person before the Committee to give oral presentations, while those who only want to make an oral presentation should also inform the Committee.

It may also invite persons or summon witnesses under the law to attend its meetings to give evidence to help towards formulating a well informed and balanced report on the captioned subject matter. The Committee’s paramount mission will be to conduct a thorough analysis within its mandate to determine whether the provisions of the Bill as they currently stand would achieve their stated objectives.

Persons should submit their views, and memoranda to the Clerk of Parliament, Parliament Buildings, Heroes Square, Bridgetown and those who wish to appear before the Committee to make oral presentations should give this indication to the Clerk of Parliament at that address. Emails should also be addressed to the Clerk of Parliament and sent to parliamentbarbados@caribsurf.com.
