Chief Executive Officer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Dr. Dexter James, has urged Barbadians to take greater responsibility for their health this holiday season to reduce the strain usually placed on the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department at this time of year.

He said it was imperative that members of the public did their part to ease the burden on the already limited resources of the QEH.

???We need you to exercise a measure of personal responsibility for your health care, the way you use the public roads, in your actions towards your fellow man and the way you care for the elderly,??? Dr. James stated.

He added that by acknowledging these various responsibilities members of the public would be making a personal contribution to assisting the QEH in preserving its already scarce resources and, more importantly, reducing unnecessary admissions to the A&E Department.
