Students getting ready for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) examinations in June will soon have a new method of preparation at their disposal.

This comes as the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development’s Media Resource Department (MRD) prepares to broadcast a series of programmes on their recently launched radio broadcast station, Educational Radio 91.1 FM.

According to Media Resource Officer, Carlos Harding, “the aim of the programmes is to help to prepare students writing select CXC subjects. They will cover eight subjects, English Language and Literature, Conversational French, and Spanish, History, Biology, Principles of Business and Geography,” he outlined.

Pointing out the importance of the programmes, which were coordinated by teachers from the island’s secondary schools, the Media Resource Officer said schools were keen to see the start of the series. “I think that the schools would welcome such an initiative. The aim is to reinforce what was done in class…it’s like an extra class, except it will be aired outside of school hours; from 5:00 to 7:00 pm,” he said.

Mr. Harding added that the MRD was planning to launch a second series targeted at both primary and secondary schools. “We intend to embark on another series of programmes. Our overall mandate is to service the needs of the schools,” he stressed.
