The Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School is launching a literacy initiative entitled: Fun Interactive After-School and Weekend Reading Programme from next Monday, November 13, for students between the ages of four and 13.

It is also being offered to children from other primary schools and registration is currently open.

The Reading programme will operate for an initial five-week period this term at the Government Hill, St. Michael school, and options may be selected based on student needs. These options include Band A, which will focus on Reading, Composition and Hand Writing, and will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

Parents may also choose the Band B option, which will concentrate on Reading, Comprehension and Spelling and Vocabulary. These sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

The third option, Band C, will offer Reading, Comprehension and Composition practice on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Classes will be conducted by certified reading specialists and a nominal fee will be charged.

Diagnostic testing will also be offered at a reduced rate. Interested parents or guardians may collect forms from the guard lodge at the school’s entrance or from the Principal’s office.
