On July 23, 2018 Pepperidge Farm in the United States announced a voluntary recall of four varieties of Goldfish Crackers. This recall is being supported in Barbados by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA).

The products are indicated on the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website. The four varieties identified that are subject to this recall are as follows: Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar, Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar and Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel.

Deputy Director (Ag) of the DCCA, Margaret Campbell Leslie said the department, which is charged with the protection of consumers, is warning individuals not to consume any of the above-mentioned products.

Pepperidge Farm announced the voluntary recall on Goldfish Crackers citing that “these products contain whey powder as an ingredient, which the whey powder supplier has recalled due to the potential presence of Salmonella”.

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is further advising consumers that they should immediately seek medical attention if they experience any of these symptoms.

For further information, the DCCA may be contacted at 535-7000 or emailed at commerce.ca@barbados.gov.bb.
