As the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) seeks to insulate the institution from the threat of COVID-19, it has introduced reduced visiting hours for members of the public, effective Wednesday, March 18.
The new interim visiting hours across all general and surgical wards are 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
Visits to the hospital’s Intensive Care Units – Medical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – will be facilitated between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m.; 4:00 and 4:30 p.m.; and 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
With these new visiting hours, patients will be allowed a maximum of two visitors during each hour. This rule will be strictly enforced.
Although visiting hours have been reduced, persons are encouraged to only visit relatives, if absolutely necessary.
Persons with cold or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sneezing, runny nose and/or shortness of breath, are strongly discouraged from visiting family members admitted to the QEH.
Additionally, visitors to the hospital will be required to submit to a temperature check and sign in at the main entrance.
