The Customs and Excise Department will host a two-day regional training course on ???Product Identification’, from Tuesday, May 11 to Wednesday, May 12, at the Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church.

It will get under way with an official opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m.

The seminar has been organised in conjunction with Carisma Marketing Services – a subsidiary of British American Tobacco. It is aimed at equipping participants in the fight against large-scale smuggling of contraband and counterfeit cigarettes which are entering Caribbean markets. This illegal practice has resulted in the loss of millions of dollars in revenue annually by Governments.

Participants will be drawn from Guyana, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, the Netherland Antilles, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
