The Community Development Department is encouraging persons to register for its Community Technology Programme, beginning in June 2017.

The free programme, which offers training in various aspects of Microsoft Office 2010, will run for 10 weeks at resource centres across the island.

The Level 1 courses for beginners are Introduction to Computers, Introduction to E-mail, Introduction to the Internet, Introduction to Windows 7 and Introduction to Microsoft Word. The Level 2 courses, for advanced persons, are Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and Access.

The ITs for Teens programme, which targets teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18, is also open for registration. It runs for six weeks and covers graphic design, basic computer repairs, web page design and Introduction to Microsoft Office applications.

Level III and Level IV courses have also been introduced this year and will run for three and six months respectively. Both attract a registration fee.

The courses being offered are Building Drawing, Computer Graphics, Computer Programming, Computer Repairs, Database Management, Entrepreneurial Development Training, Internet Banking, Internet Home Business, Microsoft Office, and Music Production for Beginners.

Instruction in Security and Home Automation, Social Media Marketing, Tablet and Cell Phone Repairs, Office Administration and Technology, Business Accounts Using QuickBooks, Reality of Work and Web Design will also be available.

The programmes will be offered at the resource centres in Weston and Baywoods, St. James; Speightstown and Black Bess, St. Peter; Briar Hall, Gall Hill and St. Christopher, Christ Church; Bonnets, Bush Hall, Deacons, Grazettes, Haggatt Hall, and Parkinson, St. Michael; Valley, Drax Hall and Greens, St. George; Rices and St. Marks, St. Philip; St. Clements, St. Lucy; and St. Elizabeth, St. Joseph.
