Registration is currently taking place for the Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School CFB Power of Choice Summer Initiative, which runs from July 10 to August 11.

This year’s programme is themed Fun and Fitness on the Hill, and it seeks to develop and nurture the student’s interest in Reading, Mathematics and Science, through exposure to various developmentally appropriate activities.

These activities include puppetry, reader’s theatre, hydroponics, robotics, road tennis, and problem-solving games and sports.

Managing Director of the Power of Choice Initiative in Schools, Errol Griffith, will lead a team of resource personnel that will include Principal Dr. Monica Walton, also a reading specialist, and Pastor of New Covenant Ministries, Philippe Taitt. Children will also be given opportunities to deliver presentations on making wise choices every time.

In addition, a parent workshop will be held under the theme Helping Our Children to Be Successful, on Wednesday, August 2, from 1:00 p.m. Children can also look forward to a mini-carnival and exhibition on Thursday, August 10.

Principal, Dr Monica Walton, speaking on the rationale of the camp, said: “We believe that our students need a wholesome healthy environment for continued learning and success, hence the hosting of this CFB Power of Choice Summer Initiative. In addition, this initiative will present an intellectual challenge for students, while allowing them to develop friendships as they engage in different group fun-oriented tasks. Participants will also explore several scientific and creative fields of study.”

Registration forms for the CFB Power of Choice Summer Initiative 2017 may be collected from the School’s Guard Lodge between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. weekdays. They must be returned by Friday, June 23.

For further information on the programme, parents or guardians may call Dr Walton at 429-3361 or email charlesfbroomememorialprimary@mes.gov.bb.
