Members of the public are reminded that they must register by next Monday, February 15, if they want to attend the symposium which will examine the impact of the global recession on women.

Those who are interested in participating in the seminar should contact the Bureau of Gender Affairs at telephone numbers 310-2104 or 310-2108. The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Barbados Workers’ Union, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael.?? February 18 is commemorated as the Day of Women of the Americas.

During the event, there will be presentations from Government’s Advisor on Poverty and the Millennium Development Goals, Undene Whittaker, who will speak on "The Impact on the Quality of Life"; while Health Sister, Estleen Walker, will look at "The Economic Recession on Health". Executive Co-ordinator of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre, Cecilia Babb, will discuss "No easy time for the Informal Sector: Gender Perspective on the Global Crisis".
