Operators of Private Day Care Centres have been reminded that they must register their businesses or renew their licences.
An official of the Child Care Board (CCB) pointed out that this was an annual process which must be completed by January 31, 2011.
She said:?? "It is illegal to operate any such establishment without a Certificate of Registration from the Child Care Board. Failure to comply with the Board’s Regulations may result in closure or a penalty, which is a fine of $500 and or six months imprisonment."
The spokesperson stressed that all applications must be accompanied by certificates of inspection from the Barbados Fire Service and the Ministry of Health.?? An appropriate food licence must also be issued by that Ministry. Current medical certificates and Certificates of Character for all staff, as well as recent Food Handler’s Certificates for those who will deal with food, are also required.
She noted that all new applications and relocations must have the written approval of the Chief Town Planner to operate from the proposed site, and a Certificate of Registration from the Corporate Affairs Office.
