The Registration Department will host an Open Day and Health Fair tomorrow, Friday, August 11, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at its White Park Road, St. Michael office.

The day will also feature a Moot Court at the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, Coleridge Street, from 2:00 p.m. to allow the public to see what happens during some cases.

The Moot Court will feature cases involving an assault charge, a maintenance matter, rape and fraud charges, and a protection order.

Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne, explained that these cases will be done by staff of the Registration Department to allow members of the public to see what happens during court.

During the open day, persons will have an opportunity to see the gowns worn by judges over the last 50 years; and view old court records featuring the old legal language used, as the department continues its anniversary celebrations themed: Repositioning for World Class Excellence.

In addition, the various sections of the Registration Department will mount displays for the public about their functions including the Court Transcription section which will also display the equipment used when cases are heard.

The day will also feature blood sugar, cholesterol and diabetes testing, while manicures and pedicures will be provided at a cost.
