The Ministry of Education has advised that registration for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) May to June 2011 examinations commenced on Monday, November 1, and will close on Monday November 29.

Persons registering should do so between 8.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Registration forms are available from the Examinations Section, Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, "Elsie Payne Complex", Constitution Road, St. Michael.

To facilitate the registration process, candidates should bring with them the relevant fees; their Barbados Identification Card, passport or a certified passport size photograph as evidence of identification; and a blue/black ink pen.

The examination fees payable in cash on registration for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certification (CSEC) are entry fees, $35.00 per candidate; subject fee, $35.00 per subject and a local fee of $30.00.

With respect to the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), these are: entry fee, $35.00 per candidate; subject fee, $50.00 per unit; and local entrance fee of $30.00 per candidate.

Any change of subject/unit particulars for an existing subject entry or addition of a subject (s) / unit (s) to an existing candidates’ entry and change of name or date of birth, after the deadline, will incur an amendment fee of $50.00.

The local entrance fee of $30.00 covers all examinations, which the candidate may be writing during the period April to July 2011.

All fees should be paid in cash to the Finance Section of the Ministry of Education between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays.

Subject entries with a School Based Assessment (SBA) component will only be accepted from "Re-sit Candidates".

According to the Ministry, candidates should choose their subjects carefully, to avoid a clash of two or more subject papers. If this happens, no alternate arrangements will be made.

Individuals are also advised that clashes of subject papers with those of other examining bodies cannot be reconciled or adjusted by the Ministry. Candidates writing examinations with more than one examination body have, therefore, been advised to consult the timetables for the respective examinations before registering.
