Registration for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) May to June 2012 examinations will start next Tuesday, November 1 and run until Friday, December 2, 2011.

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development has advised that forms are available from its Examinations Section at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael. The registration forms may also be filled out online at https://mail.barbados.gov.bb/owa/redir.aspx?C=1aa7b442951b45e1843491aff2870a98&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.mes.gov.bb; however, these should be downloaded and brought to the Section.

Persons registering should do so between 8.30 a.m. and 3.15 p.m., from Monday to Friday. They should bring with them the relevant fees; their Barbados Identification Card, passport or driver’s licence as evidence of identification.

The Ministry is further reminding students that one Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate subject costs $100 and an additional $35 must be paid for every extra subject. Also, one CAPE subject is $115 and an additional $50 must be paid for every other subject.

Any change of subject/unit particulars for an existing subject entry or addition of a subject(s) / unit(s) to an existing candidate’s entry and change of name or date of birth, after the deadline, will incur an amendment fee of $50.

All fees should be paid in cash to the Finance Section of the Ministry of Education.

Subject entries with a School-Based Assessment (SBA) component will only be accepted from "Re-sit Candidates".

According to the Ministry, candidates should choose their subjects carefully, to avoid having to write two or more papers concurrently. If this happens, no alternate arrangements will be made.

Individuals are also advised that clashes of subject papers with those of other examining bodies cannot be reconciled or adjusted by the Ministry. Candidates writing examinations with more than one examination body have, therefore, been advised to consult the timetables for the respective examinations before registering.

A copy of the timetable is posted on the CXC’s web page, www.cxc.org.?? There is also a link to this web page from http://mes.gov.bb/.
