Barbados will remember its servicemen, who lost their lives during World Wars I and II, this coming Sunday, November 11, with the customary Remembrance Day Parade and a short inter-denominational service at the Cenotaph, National Heroes Square. The ceremony begins at 8.00 a.m.

Several armed and unarmed uniformed groups will be on parade, including the Barbados Regiment, the Royal Barbados Police Force, the Barbados Cadet Corps, the Barbados Legion, the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Prison Service, the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides Associations, the St. John Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Red Cross Association and the Church Brigade.

Governor General, Sir Clifford Husbands; Prime Minister, Owen Arthur; Chief Justice, Sir David Simmons; Leader of the Opposition, David Thompson; members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries are expected to lay wreaths at the war memorial.

Special traffic arrangements will be in place for the parade which begins at 8.00 a.m.

 

Coverage of the Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday, November 12, will be carried live on radio and television.
