Barbadians will join the rest of the world in paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the two World Wars, at the Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday, November 11.

An inter-denominational service will take place at the Cenotaph, National Heroes Square, The City, commencing at 8:00 a.m. Governor General, Sir Elliott Belgrave; Prime Minister Freundel Stuart; Leader of the Opposition, Owen Arthur; and Members of the Diplomatic Corps, are expected to lay wreaths during the solemn proceedings in memory of the ex-servicemen and women.??

Armed units of the Barbados Defence Force’s Guard of Honour, the Barbados Coast Guard, the Band of the Royal Barbados Police Force, the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Cadet Corps will be on parade.

Unarmed units will comprise members of the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Girl Guides’ Association, and the Band of the Barbados Cadet Corps, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Red Cross and the Barbados Boy Scouts Association. Members of the Barbados Legion are also expected to be on parade.

There will be a full dress rehearsal for all armed and unarmed units, on Sunday, November 4, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in National Heroes Square and, as a consequence, motorists are advised that traffic will be diverted from this area.
