The Immigration Department. (FP)

The Barbados Immigration Department wishes to remind the public that a number of safety measures have been implemented, in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic and to prioritise health and safety of staff and visitors to the office.

An appointment only system is currently in place for all applications for passports and the various categories of immigration status, and immigration services. However, persons who require urgent passports, or those making payment of fees, are not required to make appointments. All appointments may be scheduled by visiting the department’s website.

The Chief Immigration Officer has also advised that customers who require the urgent issue of a passport should call 535-4150 or 832-4102.

The Immigration Department reminds the public that walk-ins would not be accommodated, as it seeks to follow protocols, and urges all customers to comply with the appointment system.

All other queries should be sent to the official email addresses or made via the telephone numbers listed on the department’s website.

Visitors to the department will be required to follow all COVID-19 protocols. These include temperature checks, the sanitising of hands on arrival, the wearing of masks while conducting business, and maintaining social distancing of at least six feet away from other persons.

In addition, only those doing business with the department will be allowed to enter, and the Chief Immigration Officer has requested that customers travel only with items necessary for transacting their business to reduce the time spent while being screened at the scanner.
