The Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds members of the public that there are established categories and timelines for receiving COVID-19 tests and results.

Those persons who fall into Category One are primary contacts, Royal Barbados Police Force personnel; HMP Dodds Prison Wardens; Barbados Defence Force personnel; Barbados Fire service personnel; All Medical Personnel; Border Security – Immigration Officers; Customs Officers; Barbados Port Inc. Officers; Grantley Adams International Airport Inc. officers (inclusive of security); patients awaiting tests for medical treatment; patients in elder care facilities; and inmates of HMP Dodds. Results for persons in this category are expected within 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health has designated the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory’s Testing Facility and the Branford Taitt Polyclinic as the testing centres for Category One.

Category Two persons, inbound and outbound visitors, can expect results within 24 to 48 hours.

Individuals in Category Three, secondary and tertiary contacts, are expected to receive their results within 48 hours.

Those in Category Four – persons who health officials consider to have a general curiosity and who decide they want to be tested for COVID-19 – will receive their test results in 72 hours.
