The Registrar of Travel Services is reminding all tour operators that it is an offence to carry on business as a travel agent or a tour operator unless a licence to do so has been obtained under the Travel Services Act, CAP. 373A

Failure to obtain a licence to lawfully conduct business will result in a fine of $5,000.00, or imprisonment for a term of 12 months, or both.

Section 2 of the Travel Services Act CAP. 373A defines a “tour operator” as a person who is engaged principally in the development, planning, promotion and marketing of travel services and accommodation.

It is therefore imperative that all tour operators ensure that they have obtained a licence to lawfully conduct business.

Application forms may be obtained from the Registrar of Travel Services, Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, 5th Floor One Barbados Place, Warrens, St. Michael, and via email travelservices@tourism.gov.bb.
