Owners and operators of businesses, which are licensed under the Health Services Act, are reminded by the Ministry of Health that their licence expires on December 31, 2008.

These businesses include: hairdressers’ salons, restaurants, hotels, funeral director and embalmers, bakeries, offensive trades, guesthouses, lodging houses, barracks and keepers of domestic animals.

Owners should apply to the appropriate polyclinic before the end of December.

Meanwhile, operators of food establishments – shops, bars, supermarkets, mobile canteens – must ensure that application for the renewal of licences is made at least two weeks before the anniversary date of expiration.

Persons who contravene the Health Services Regulations are guilty of an offence and are liable on summary conviction to a fine of $5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or both.
