The resumption of visits to the Geriatric Hospital and its Day Care Facility has been authorised by the Ministry of Health.

The ‘all clear’ was given today after a two-week restriction on visits following an outbreak of gastroenteritis at the Jemmotts Lane hospital.

Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestines commonly characterised by nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. The Ministry last week confirmed that Norovirus had been identified as the likely cause of the outbreak, following analysis of laboratory screening conducted during the outbreak.

The Ministry of Health has thanked the public for its cooperation and understanding during the past two weeks.????
