The Index of Retail Prices for November 2016 stood at 173.2 points, representing an increase of 0.9 percent when compared to the 171.6 points recorded the previous month.

According to data produced by the Barbados Statistical Service, increases were recorded for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels by 2.2 per cent; Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages by 1.5 per cent; Restaurants and Hotels, as well as Miscellaneous Goods and Services, by 0.2 per cent; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance by 0.1 per cent; and Transport by 0.1 per cent.

Declines were registered for Clothing and Footwear by 0.3 per cent; Recreation and Culture by 0.3 per cent; and Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics by 0.2 per cent. Health, Communication, and Education remained constant during the period.

Between November 2015 and November 2016, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 3.3 per cent from 167.6 to 173.2 points. The average inflation rate for the period was 0.8 per cent.
