Business entities, financial institutions and members of the public are asked to be extra vigilant in relation to the surfacing of counterfeit cheques that falsely appear to be issued by the Barbados Revenue Authority.
The Authority is advising non-banking entities in Barbados to be alert when accepting such third-party cheques from the Barbados Revenue Authority.
The Authority has confirmed one failed attempt by a member of the public to encash a false cheque. That incident has been reported to the Fraud Squad of the Royal Barbados Police Force.
Persons should desist from accepting fraudulent cheques and do so at their own risk.Anyone who is suspicious of any such cheques should inform the Authority and the Royal Barbados Police Force.
