The Schools Craft and Industrial Technology Exhibition (SCITEX), formerly called the Schools Industrial Arts, Craft and Technology exhibition, is set to be revived next month.

It will be held from Friday, March 8 to Monday, March 11, at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed, The City.

A key aim of this exhibition is to highlight the work done by secondary students in the technical and vocational areas as well as in art and craft.

Coordinator of the Exhibition and Education Officer with responsibility for Technical and Vocational areas, Henderson Wiltshire, in giving the rationale for the exhibition, said: "After about five years without it, we felt the need to highlight the creative and innovative work done by our students in secondary schools across the island. It certainly is of a high quality and has the potential to contribute to national development."

Exhibits will include Architectural Drafting, Woodwork, Metalwork, Construction, Textile, Barbering, Cosmetology, Electronics and a Looking Back session.

The opening ceremony takes place on Friday, March 8, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed, with the exhibition open to the public from noon to until 7:00 p.m. on that day.

Viewing of exhibits may also be done from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Saturday March 9 and Sunday, March 10, and again from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday March 11.

Sunday, March 10 is family day and activities are expected to include games, music, face painting, a jumping tent and line dancing. There will be food on sale.
