Interested Barbadians will get the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Rock Hall Freedom Village when the Division of Culture, Prime Minister’s Office, and the Barbados World Heritage District conduct a guided tour of the area.

The tour will be held this Sunday, June 12, starting at 4:00 p.m.

Participants will hear the intriguing story from tour guides about how the former enslaved had set up the first freedom village after Emancipation.  They will also learn about the circumstances surrounding the murder of the plantation owner, Reynold Alleyne Elcock.

During the event, walkers will explore the trail of the former enslaved, while they take a closer look at the landscape and heritage of this unique village and the role it played in the economic and political rights of the former enslaved.

Parking will be provided on the monument site.

Interested persons may register by calling 535-5844, 535-5852, or 535-5855 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.
