School administrators, parents, students and members of the community are being encouraged to nominate teachers for the 4th annual Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers??? Awards 2014.

Royal Fidelity Merchant Bank & Trust has once again teamed up with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation to present the awards, started since 2010.??

Ten deserving teachers will be adjudged the ???best teachers??? in the country and will receive a prize of $2,000 from the Bank.??The nomination period has officially begun and will close on Monday, June 30.

Teachers from both private and public schools at the nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary levels are eligible for nomination. After being shortlisted, the top teachers will be interviewed by the Blue Ribbon Judging Panel, headed by Principal of Graydon Sealy Secondary School, Matthew Farley.

???This year, in an effort to broaden the reach of the event and improve the overall recognition of the amazing contributions made by teachers, Royal Fidelity has brought on board other locally-based companies to participate in what has become the leading event to recognise the contributions of this island???s teachers,??? Royal Fidelity???s Assistant Vice President, Jillian Nunes explained.

Noting that these included R. L. Mark, Chefette Restaurant Ltd. and Flow, she said their association with the competition would make it possible for nominators to have the chance to win vouchers, cash prizes and a grand prize of office equipment for the school submitting the most nominations.

For a teacher to be eligible he/she must be employed as a full-time classroom teacher, with not less than four years??? experience as of January 1, 2014.??Nomination forms are available online for both completion and submission and may be accessed at further information persons may call 434-2673.
