Some 34 police officers from the region will soon undergo 12 weeks of military training as part of the Central Liaison Office (CLO) of the Regional Security System (RSS) Basic Course 1/201, slated to get under way in Barbados this month.

??An opening ceremony will be held on Monday, March 19, at the RSS Training Facility, Paragon Base, Christ Church, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The feature address will be delivered by Regional Security Coordinator of the RSS, Grantley Watson. Director, Narcotics Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Bridgetown, Kurt van der Walde, will also address attendees during the opening ceremony.

Course participants will be exposed to basic military training so they can take their places in any Special Services Unit or equivalent unit.

Training will be divided into two phases, Phase I in Barbados, from Monday, March 19 to Friday, May 18; and Phase II in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from May 19 to June 8.

The course is jointly sponsored by the CLO and the US Embassy.

Participants will also attend a Church Service on Sunday, April 8, at the St. George Parish Church, The Glebe, St. George, beginning at 9:15 a.m.
