Members of the public are encouraged to sign-up for this year’s Run Tsunami Run 5K Walk and Run 2019 scheduled for Sunday, March 29, at 4:00 p.m. This year’s event will start and end at the Speightstown Esplanade, St. Peter.

Walkers and runners will move along Sand Street, Major Walk, Speightstown By-pass road, Station Hill, old St. Joseph Hospital (Churchill Road/Highway 1 junction), before turning and moving along the old St. Joseph Hospital, going west to Speightstown By-pass Road/Church Street junction, and on to Speightstown roundabout, Queen Street, and back to the Speightstown Esplanade.

Participants are encouraged to call the Department of Emergency Management at 438-7575 to register for the walk and run.

This is the final event in the month of activities to mark Coastal Hazards Awareness Month, being celebrated under the theme: A Tsunami Smart Barbados: Vision 2020.

The month of activities was coordinated by the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards, which is co-chaired by the Director of the DEM, Kerry Hinds, and the Director of Coastal Zone Management Unit, Dr. Leo Brewster.
