As an increasing number of employees develop an interest in safety and health matters at the workplace, government remains in the vanguard of efforts to sensitise stakeholders on this critical issue.

To this end, the Labour Department, in collaboration with the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH), will host Occupational Safety and Health Week from Sunday, July 5 to Thursday, July 9, 2009.

During the week, there will be a series of free seminars at the Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church, under the theme, ???Decent Work: A Priority for All’. They commence at 9:00 a.m. each day.

A number of pertinent topics will be on the agenda including ???Managing Safety and Health during a Financial Recession’; ???Indoor Air Quality’; ???Ergonomics’; and ???The Building Blocks for a Successful Safety Organisation’.

On Thursday, July 9, there will be a number of tours to selected workplaces as ministry officials examine the process of developing a decent work environment for all.

Persons interested in attending the seminars or taking part in the tours are asked to register by contacting the Labour Department at 310-1523/24, fax number 424-2589 or e-mail labour@labour.gov.bb.

The deadline for registration for the tours is this Friday, June 19, while for the seminars it is Tuesday, June 30.
