School Meals staff dug into their pockets to provide a donation of food and toiletry items to the HIV Food Bank.

In the handover presentation recently, School Meals Officer and Deputy Chairperson of the Health Education Committee, Pedro Cumberbatch, said: "We are pleased that we can provide care for our brothers and sisters who are living with this disease."

He pointed out that the items were personally donated by staff members from the Main Office and from the St. Christopher, Lancaster, Country Road and Harbour Centres.??

Stating that the donation was part of the School Meals Department’s continued efforts to assist in the fight against HIV and AIDS, the School Meals Officer disclosed that servers had also attended a three-day HIV and AIDS workshop late last year.??

Indicating that the health theme of the School Meals Department was Take Charge, Act to Prevent, Mr. Cumberbatch explained, "We will also be focusing on other health challenges that could affect staff members and their families.?? This is important to us because our people are our most precious resource."

Last year, staff at the School Meals Department donated funds from a Dollar Drive initiative to the HIV Food Bank.??
