Celebrations to mark African Awareness Month will continue at schools across the island tomorrow, Friday, February 20.
Two such schools are the Roland Edwards Primary School at Battaley???s, St. Peter and Mount Tabor Primary in St. John.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., at Roland Edwards, Len Sehntwali and his daughter Eja, a stilt walker, will deliver a dramatic presentation based on an Anansi story.
The activities which are being held under the theme: Promoting and Preserving Discipline and Respect will also see students, dressed in African wear modelling their attire as well as performing songs and dances.
Additionally, there will be an exhibition featuring research booklets on Senegal, done by the students, as well as old Barbadian and African artefacts.
At Mount Tabor, where the day has been dubbed African Dress Day, there will be modelling of African wear and natural hairstyles. Dr. John Mwansa, an African who resides in Barbados, will also address the students.
There will also be performances of African dance and music and a display of traditional African/Barbadian games. The children will be treated to various African dishes and will have the opportunity to view displays of research carried out by their peers on African countries.
