Over 30 exhibits from 23 schools will be on display when the Media Resource Department (MRD) and the Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) Co. Ltd. host the Schools’ Exhibition inside the Barbados Manufacturers Exhibition (BMEX).

BMEX 2017 began on Friday, June 2, and will run until Monday, June 5, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC), Two Mile Hill, St. Michael. The work of students will be showcased in the Sugar Mill Room and will include hydroponics, ceramics, recyclable materials and furniture.

Additionally, the winning projects from the second MRD/BL&P Electricity and Renewable Energy Science Exposition, held last month at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, will be highlighted. These schools are St. Mark’s Primary, Eagles Academy, Charles F. Broome Memorial, Daryll Jordan Secondary and The Lodge School.

Prizes for BMEX will be sponsored by the MRD and BL&P. These will be awarded to the top three entries in both the primary and secondary categories and there will be keen competition for the Most Innovative School Display, an award won by Daryll Jordan last year.

Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, is expected to tour the displays on Monday, June 5, from 10:30 a.m.

The general public is encouraged to visit the Sugar Mill Room from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from tomorrow, Saturday, June 3, to Monday, June 5, to view the creative projects of the island’s primary and secondary schools.
