As Barbadians prepare to say goodbye to former Prime Minister David Thompson, next Wednesday, November 3, all schools on the island will be closed.

This was announced last night by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.

She also said that on the day of the State Funeral, businesses will be closed for the first part of the day until 1:00 p.m.

Thousands of Barbadians are expected to pack Kensington Oval to bid a final farewell to this island’s sixth Prime Minister during a nationally and regionally televised service.

It is anticipated that school children and other Barbadians will also take the opportunity to show their respect by lining the route to St. John’s Parish Church. clashley@barbados.gov.bb
