St. Mary???s Primary School is currently hosting a Science Literacy Display at the institution in Mason Hall Street, St. Michael.

The event, which started on Thursday, March 17, will conclude on Monday, March 21. It will run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Under the theme: Scientific Literacy: The Real McCoy, it will pay tribute to Elijah McCoy ??? a black inventor who discovered a way of oiling mechanisms on trains.

The event forms part of the school???s African Awareness programme for the term and will feature work done by students over the past two terms. Its aim is to encourage scientific literacy among students, especially in relation to black inventors.

The Science Literacy Display includes several activities for children and features a floating magnet, a camouflage game and a hurricane in a bottle.??Members of the public, and in particular parents and guardians, are invited to attend.
