Seafarers and their importance to the world???s economy will be brought to the fore when the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport recognises their selfless contribution at an upcoming special ceremony.

Celebrations for the Day of the Seafarer will be held on Saturday, September 20, at the Bay Street Esplanade, St. Michael, starting at 4:00 p.m.

Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Richard Sealy, will deliver remarks and present a prize to the top student in Maritime Studies from the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic.

The following day, Sunday September 21, activities for Maritime Week will officially get started with a service at the Church of the Nazarene, Collymore Rock, St. Michael, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Minister Sealy is expected to address the congregation.

On Wednesday, September 24, students from the Lester Vaughan School will tour the Barbados Coast Guard Headquarters from 10:00 a.m.??The theme for Maritime Week is IMO Conventions: Effective Implementation.
