The Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA) has come in for high praise from Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy.

While addressing the launch of the 2nd edition of the Sugar and Rum Season held at the Portvale Sugar Factory, Mr. Sealy lauded the members of BTPA’s team for their hard work and dedication to developing Barbados’ tourism product.

“It is a fact, our visitors want to be immersed in our cultural experiences, and if you are going to come to Barbados and you want to be immersed in our cultural experiences; how better to do it than to experience the story of sugar… [the Sugar and Rum Season is] a fine example of exactly why we needed a Barbados Tourism Product Authority”, he stated, adding that the Authority was “doing an amazing amount of work”.

Commending the Authority for sustaining the country’s tourism offerings; the Minister reiterated that the BTPA’s efforts greatly helped to “develop our tourism product to focus on the experience of our visitors; particularly the new visitors

Noting that his Ministry was “seeing record levels of arrivals”, Mr. Sealy stated that tourism was on stream to continue to make an impact in the lives of all Barbadians.

He encouraged those members of his Ministry who were present to continue “doing this very important work in terms of sustaining our tourism offerings going forward”.

The Sugar and Rum Season ran for two months this year, however, due to its success, the 2018 season is scheduled to run for four months, from January 15 to April 15.
