(Barbados Museum and Historical Society)

The Barbados Museum & Historical Society is assisting the Government of Canada in locating the descendants of the members of the No. 2 Construction Battalion, which served in Canada during the first World War.

The Canadian Government is planning to acknowledge their contribution, as well as issue a public apology for the racism they endured during their time of service, during an event on Saturday, July 9, and every effort is being made to locate their homes, families and descendants before that date.

Persons who are related to those who may have served in this battalion, or may know someone who may be related, are asked to email the Barbados Museum at library@barbmuse.org.bb. Persons will then be directed to the appropriate authorities.

More details will be shared about the battalion on Monday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m., via a Zoom event (Webinar ID: 832 2532 9240 Passcode 039232) and streamed live on the Museum’s social media pages at the handle @barbadosmuseum.

During this session, there will also be a free screening of the film, Honour Before Glory, which chronicles the experiences of these brave, unsung heroes.
