The Prime Minister’s Office (Culture Division) will be launching the Season of Emancipation tomorrow, Thursday, April 14, at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, on the 206th anniversary of the 1816 Slave Rebellion.

This programme commemorates important water shed dates in Barbados’ history some of which are significant to the island’s development and includes the Crop Over Festival.

The Season is intended to be observed in a spirit that is commemorative to recognise the sacrifice, struggle and resilience of our ancestors and celebratory to give appreciation and expression to the island’s unique culture.

There will be cultural activities during the day including performances by Cultural Ambassadors Alison Hinds, The Most Honourable Anthony (Gabby) Carter and Red Plastic Bag.

The public is invited to visit Sky Mall during the day to witness the performances.
