Security guards, private investigators and those who operate agencies engaged in the business of providing such services, are reminded that they must be licensed to carry out those functions.

Failure to do so means that a person is contravening the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act, and is guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of $5,000 or imprisonment for two years, or both.

Licences should be renewed in January each year, in accordance with the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act. A valid Police Certificate of Character must be submitted with the renewal application.

For additional information, persons should contact the Investigation Officer in the Defence and Security Division, Earl Deane, at 436-1970, ext. 5167, or 228-5576. They may also email earl.deane@barbados.gov.bb.
