Judges are currently evaluating the projects of 20 semi-finalists, who submitted material for the National Council for Science and Technology’s (NCST) National Innovation Competition. Entries were chosen from more than 180 submissions.

According to the NCST’s Senior Technical Officer, Charles Cyrus, the reviewing panel was impressed with the high standard of the projects submitted by competitors.??

While lauding the contestants for their creativity, Mr. Cyrus lamented that at the end of the project evaluation process, only five finalists would be chosen later this month.?? "Unfortunately, we can only choose five finalists, but we would welcome the opportunity to extend the number of finalists to at least ten," he said.

The programme was officially launched on Wednesday, May 20, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.?? The winner will receive a cash prize of $75,000 and the Prime Minister’s Trophy in March, 2010.
